Photography and art materials

Image
The two photographs above were taken during a media trip to New York back in February 2017, I held on to all the photographs I captured and transferred them to my USB waiting for the right opportunity to use them. I eventually got the chance to when I chose photos that I wanted included in my art coursework for several pieces I was putting together as well as the final piece. The edited images above are the art pieces that I included on my digipak as a part of the cover for my CD and DVD discs. Both pieces were put together on Photoshop which involved overlaying the original artworks and blending the two together using the blend tool. On top of this I used solid colour fill and blended it till I got the effect I was happy with. Overall, I am pleased with the overall result and I think it is relevant to the genre seen as though New York has a huge music scene including R&B.

Projection footage

This projection was put together using stock footage and footage of my own. I was influenced by the 1982 film, Koyannisqatsi. The film consists of slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. Most of the footage seen in the film was borrowed and re purposed in the making of the movie, I have attempted something similar by gathering clips together from YouTube that I could re purpose in the creation of my music video. Bricolage is the term used to explain the borrowing from other sources. The choice of clips was influenced by the lyrics and the meaning behind them, this should reflect in the projection.

Question 1a. Research & Planning

Research and planning have played a huge role in all of my production work so far and this therefore has influenced my skills in R&P massively. My research and planning have made my production work develop in terms of quality because I now know how to conduct my research more efficiently and what to look for when developing my own production work so that it looks accurate to existing products. Audience questionnaires - It allowed me to find out who my target audience was, what demographic and what Psychographic they belonged to. I found out that my audience demographic belongs to C1 and C2, Lower middle class and skilled working class. My audience can be exploited by product placement and most of the time its because of who is promoting it. For example, in most music videos you will see the artist use a big brand product to encourage the audience to change their spending habits. This mentality is defined by psychographics and from conducting some research ...

Question 1a. Post-Production

I have gone from knowing virtually nothing about post production to now being able to complete complex editing of video, sound and graphics. Adobe Premiere Pro I had no experience at the beginning and have now moved from basic editing to more complex editing, effects, transitions, sound manipulation. I shot on my camera and SD card so that I didn't have to worry about borrowing any equipment from external sources, it improved my productivity because I was able to film and upload to Adobe Premiere Pro in the same day. Examples of some of the key tools I used was the separation tool the transition tools and the select tool to mark bits of the song that needed to be edited. Photoshop At A2 Photoshop allowed manipulation of images, effects, colours, cropping, layering images and words. This changed the footage as the editing techniques that I had learned transformed the style and aesthetic of my pieces, examples of tools that I used were the crop tool, the levels tool and blendin...
